In 2021, Emerson College announced a campus-wide initiative called Making Emerson IDEAS (Inclusive, Diverse, Equitable, Accessible, Sustainable & Socially Just). The announcement describes it as "an interdepartmental initiative charged with coordinating efforts across the College to improve learning, satisfaction, retention, and a sense of belonging for BIPOC students, students with disabilities, first generation college students, and students with other marginalized identities."
The Iwasaki Library IDEAS Team works within the library to develop projects that support this overall mission. In addition, the concept of IDEAS is embedded within the library's values, which state that "Iwasaki Library collaboratively cultivates the Emerson global research, learning, and creative community by prioritizing the development of IDEAS: inclusive, diverse, equitable, accessible, and sustainable collections, services, and spaces."
This LibGuide provides a central access point for library projects, events, and resources that contribute to the IDEAS mission. If you have recommendations for additional resources to feature, or ideas for how we can improve the existing materials, please email library@emerson.edu and include IDEAS in the subject line.
Please direct any requests for the library to purchase new items to the Recommend an Item form, or to one of the additional specialized forms linked from that page.
