National Hispanic Heritage Month

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. This Web portal is a collaborative project of the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

NCHEMP is a body consisting of an executive membership from multiple Federal Agencies and other organizations from across the United States. Annually, they are in charge of creating the theme for Nation Hispanic Heritage Month

Amigos ("friends") is Emerson's cultural organization that is dedicated to bringing Latin culture to campus. Amigos is a multicultural group that welcomes anyone who has an interest in the variety of cultures that Amigos stands for. Through continuous programming throughout the school year, Amigos brings a variety of speakers, performers, food, and activities that embody the many Latin and Hispanic nations and cultures. Amigos also networks and collaborates with other Boston_based Latin organizations as well as other student-run organizations. If you are interested in getting involved, Amigos has many leadership opportunities that members may get involved with throughout the year.

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists was created in 1984 to create a national voice and unified vision for Latino journalists. (The organization was created during a time when the term "Hispanic" was widely used.)* The organization is dedicated to the recognition and professional advancement of Latino/a/x people in the news industry.

Raíz Latinoamericana Productions is a student-run organization that showcases Latin American artist specializing in magazine publication, film, and theater created by our very own students. The main goal of the organization is to produce a compilation of bilingual productions, that will give the opportunity for Latinx students and anyone interested in the different latinx cultures to express their voice and challenge their creativity.

The Greater Boston Latino Network (GBLN) is a collective of Latino community organizations in Boston, Chelsea, and Somerville, working together to address historical underrepresentation of Latinos in leadership roles.
