For over 40 years, the American Library Association(ALA), libraries, schools and book professionals across the country have celebrated Banned Books Week in order to raise awareness about censorship and book banning. ALA’s Office for Intellectual Freedom "documented 1,247 demands to censor library books and resources in 2023."
