For over 40 years, the American Library Association(ALA), libraries, schools and book professionals across the country have celebrated Banned Books Week in order to raise awareness about censorship and book banning. ALA’s Office for Intellectual Freedom "documented 1,269 demands to censor library books and resources in 2022, the highest number of attempted book bans since ALA began compiling data about censorship in libraries more than 20 years ago."

The Iwasaki Library is excited to celebrate Banned Books Week. Use this guide to find your favorite banned or challenged books to borrow from the Iwasaki Library, learn more about the censorship crisis in the nation, and discover action you can take to support everyone's Freedom To Read!
