For Departments

About NILOA's Transparency Framework

The Office of Academic Assessment is committed to transparent assessment practices. helping departments make programmatic assessment more transparent for all. To enhance our commitment to assessment transparency, we are utilizing the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment's (NILOA) Transparency Framework as a guide. By adopting the NILOA Transparency Framework, we are actively supporting departments in effectively communicating the value of their assessment efforts to students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.

Key components of the NILOA framework include:

  • Clear and accessible student learning outcome statements
  • Comprehensive assessment plans
  • Effective use of student learning evidence
  • Transparent communication of current assessment activities and interpreted results
  • Dedicated assessment resources

OAA provides resources, training, and support to help departments implement the NILOA framework and achieve greater assessment transparency. Through collaboration and shared commitment, we strive to create a culture of continuous improvement and demonstrate Emerson College's dedication to student success.
