The Office of Academic Assessment partners with the numerous offices and staff at Emerson that support student learning, including:
This page will contain the rubrics used to evaluate students' achievement of each of the program learning outcomes.
When faculty attach a Canvas Outcome to an assignment in their course, they will be able to use the relevant rubric item to evaluate their students' work. Via speedgrader, faculty use the 0-4 rubric language provided. Their evaluations are not tied to students’ grades, students do not have to submit or resubmit any work for review, and faculty do not need to re-evaluate student work. Individual faculty’s ratings are not shared with those responsible for reviewing the Outcomes data; rather, data is compiled and analyzed for student learning as a whole. This enables departments to look at students' achievement of departmental learning outcomes as a whole, and to disaggregate data based on demographic information to check for opportunity gaps.
The rubric line below pertains to Marketing Communication's learning outcome on Effective Communication. Courses that address this outcome use this language to evaluate their students' learning. Students are expected to move from a 1 or 2 (Novice/Developing) in their first year and first exposure to this outcome, to a 4 (Adept) as they prepare for graduation.
