Academic Writing - a brief definition:

Academic writing is any nonfiction prose which examines works, ideas, events, developments, discoveries, and/or processes in the light and context of previous scholarship in the field, presuming this exists. It is marked by an informed, objective tone and a dedication to explore its subject from any and all reasonable perspectives. The best and most thorough guide to academic writing available online is https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/section/1/2/

The majority of academic writing is produced in response to a particular question or an assignment - however, any writing which strives to comprehend and analyze ideas and information related to one or more fields of study can be considered suitable for publication in JASPER.
